While I’ve never seen this before, I did find this amazing video from @utahfertilitycenter that I wanted to share with you. Most embryos split after they are transferred, so it’s usually not possible to determine if an embryo will split before it’s transferred. Embryo splitting (twinning) is more common with IVF pregnancies vs. spontaneous pregnancies. This may be due to assisted hatching, ICSI, biopsy, prolonged culture times, or freezing/thawing. There are a lot of studies, but none conclusive
