Filming wildlife takes luck and patience. This octopus let me get close only after two hours of waiting and three dives. But it was worth it. We were almost playing — I moved closer, he hid. I backed away, and he peeked out to see where I was. Sometimes he made short “runs,” as if testing the limits. Smart one.
