As a labor nurse (aka anecdotally speaking), I have seen delayed pushing or laboring down be incredibly effective and helpful - especially when that epidural is heavy, baby’s station is still higher, and there is no urge to push present. Equally so, I have helped manage labors where it felt like it was time for baby to deliver, and the sooner the pushing began, the better.
