Londoner Alan Ford, 78, collapsed after having a heart attack while playing football. His coach, Matt Philips, saved his lift when he performed CPR and used a nearby defibrillator before paramedics arrived. Now, there are calls for more training in CPR and the use of defibrillators after new research from the British Heart Foundation found there’s a major gap in people’s knowledge across grassroots football.
