Yesterday evening, AMSA detected an EPIRB activation about 80km north of Townsville, Queensland, from a 7.5m steel recreational vessel, Kaluga Q, with 3 people on board. Two men have been rescued after their vessel capsized off the coast of Garden Island on Tuesday, 16 September 2025. At approximately 10:15am, a mayday call was received over marine radio channel VHF16, reporting a vessel in distress.
