Atlas the robot is heading to the factory floor in Hyundai's Georgia plant and it’s bringing artificial intelligence with it

Jackowski claims Boston Dynamics and Hyundai are putting together, the “most complete dataset in the world to train humanoid skills in manufacturing,” and that the car side of the company will soon be both using and manufacturing these things in “a new robotics factory capable of producing 30,000 Atlas robots a year.”

Hyundai said it plans on mass-producing Atlas as “production-ready humanoid robots” that will be put to work at the automaker’s car plants, starting with the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant in Savannah, Georgia. The company estimates it will produce 30,000 robots annually starting in 2028.

Hyundai admits humanoid robots in car factories will change the nature of work—but don't expect much of an impact on prices.

Nvidia’s new lineup of open-source AI models is headlined by Alpamayo 1 (pictured), a so-called VLA, or vision-language-action, algorithm with 10 billion parameters. It can use footage from an autonomous vehicle’s cameras to generate driving trajectories.
