Paul Mainieri is out as baseball coach at South Carolina, less than halfway through his second season with the Gamecocks.

Paul Mainieri stepped down on March 21, a stunning resolution to what was supposed to be the program’s salvation.

"Jeremiah Donati and I have agreed that the baseball program will be better served with new leadership," Mainieri said in a statement, according to The State Newspaper's Jordan Kaye.
